A Living Lab is an open-innovation framework that involves end users, researchers, professionals and institutions from the very start of a project. In health, this means testing solutions in their real context of use before any large-scale rollout. The LLSF adapts this method to public health research, creating spaces where science meets lived experience to produce evidence-based, use-based knowledge.

A dual requirement

The LLSF method stands out for combining two demands: producing scientifically usable results, and ensuring genuine relevance for the women concerned. By connecting medical, social and technological dimensions, this approach leads to innovations that are better targeted, more effective and better accepted.

The 4 principles

 

Co-design

Every project starts with a co-design phase bringing together patients, researchers, care professionals and partners, to jointly define needs, hypotheses and evaluation indicators.

Real-life experimentation

Solutions are tested in their actual environment of use: a medical practice, a hospital, a home, or a community organisation, combining quantitative data (health, usage and impact indicators) with qualitative insight (testimonials, lived experience).

Scientific and ethical evaluation

Each experiment is supported by Rennes University Hospital and its methodological partners to guarantee scientific validity and compliance with ethical frameworks.

Capitalisation and transfer

Results are shared across the Living Lab network and can feed academic research, public policy and field actors.
