Women's health : why it matters ?
Reducing gender inequalities in health means improving health for everyone.
In numbers
A public health issue
When half the population is less well diagnosed or under-represented in research, public health as a whole loses effectiveness. Women’s health is now recognised as a national and European priority, and the field needs solutions that are tested, evaluated and adapted in practice.
Specificities of women’s health
Biological sex and gender shape disease prevalence, symptoms, pain and treatment response, at every life stage: puberty, reproductive life, menopause. Social factors matter too: precarity, mental load and violence all weigh directly on women’s health.
Why such delays ?
Medical research was built for decades around male bodies, treated as the « standard. » The result: diagnostic delays, under-tested treatments, and a system less efficient for half the population.
A growing ecosystem
Researchers, health professionals, associations, institutions, companies and patient-experts are now mobilising together, with FemTech as a fast-growing part of this movement. The LLSF connects these worlds to turn evidence into practice.
