Our story & team

The LLSF was born from a simple observation: women do not always benefit from the same quality of research, diagnosis and care as men, a gap widely documented by national and European studies. This led Pre Krystel Nyangoh Timoh, professor of anatomy and gynaecological surgery at Rennes University Hospital and a specialist in deep pelvic endometriosis, and Ophélie Carta, an expert in structuring complex projects and partnerships, to join forces, with the support of Biotech Santé Bretagne.

Together they lead the LLSF as Scientific Director and Operations Director, backed by a communications lead and public health and research staff, with a research engineer and an innovation project manager joining soon. Their initiative was quickly backed by Rennes University Hospital and the region’s institutional partners.

Governance

The LLSF relies on shared, agile governance: a Management Committee overseeing operations, a Steering Committee bringing together institutional, medical, community and business partners to guide strategy, and a Scientific and Ethics Committee of regional experts ensuring methodological quality and integrity.

A wide network

Hosted by Rennes University Hospital and backed by Université de Rennes, ARS Bretagne, the Regional Council, Rennes Métropole and the Prefecture of Brittany, the LLSF also works with a broad circle of partners, including CHU de Brest, Inserm, Biotech Santé Bretagne, Femtech France, Endobreizh and the Maison des Femmes.
